Today, the long awaited drop of Epstein’s files has been promised. As I write this, the files have not been made public. Instead, they were given to a number of high profile conservative X influencers.

Around noon today, people such as Chad Prather, DC Draino and Scott Pressler walked out of the oval carrying binders of recently declassified Epstein documents.

Meanwhile, us common folk with X accounts less than a million followers were left wondering why they were not publicly released at the same time.

Then the spin began to happen. Our expectations were quickly toned down as reports came that what’s in those files are mostly already released information, as SDNY is allegedly stopping the handing over of the actual documents. That’s weird and concerning.

My concern is that the events of just these past few hours have already sown the seeds of distrust and conspiracy in regard to not just the Epstein files, but all the other files we were promised.

But it gets worse.

The way the X algorithm works is that it incentivizes big accounts engaging with other big accounts, and if you have been on X lately, you will notice that many of the major influencers RT others in their network. It’s become a circle jerk of similar talking points from the same folks all using the same language “🚨 Breaking:”

But it’s not just that these same influencers use the same click-bait emoji’s, they actually use same exact tweets, word for word.

There are only two options here. The best take is that they just copied each other’s post, but I think what is more likely is that most of these mainstream conservative influencers are using the same marketing agency to manage their social media posts. This makes the most sense when you see the sheer amount of posts they make every day and the incredible similarity between any two of them at the same time.

This is actually really dangerous. As it creates a media with a singular narrative without disagreement or alternate views.

But worse, it appears that all of our social media influencers that millions of people rely on for news and information apart from centralized mainstream media is actually very quickly becoming centralized mainstream media. So much so they are all using the same social media managers.

This is not a good thing. It means that there is not any diversity of thought among the news influencers, this diversity of thought is essential in a free press.

A while back ago, there was a video of all the local news reading the same Associated Press news headlines. It was mercilessly mocked and spread all over the internet. But how are those two X posts not the “Social Media” version of that?

The power of a decentralized press is that there are going to be differing and competing views on varying subjects of importance. There are great conservative men who disagree with Trump on tariffs and free trade. There are great MAGA guys who abhor Trump’s federal funding of IVF.

We need to have influencers on our own side that disagree with each other, and not just agency directed mouthpieces for the Trump administration. This is vital for a representative republic.

X is insanely important. The ability to send out a tweet and have it go viral, or create a platform for yourself with nothing but an e-mail address and a blue check, is one of the greatest powers the common people in this nation have ever had. What Elon did with buying X was one of the most significant moments in American History.

But I fear we are very quickly going to lose that power and any meaning by centralizing reach to administration approved voices, and I am worried no one is really bothered by this.
